morebus Employee of the Year - Nigel Curtis

Tuesday, February 27 2018

Our annual employee awards night A Night with the Stars took place on Saturday 17th February at the Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton. Hosted by Managing Director, Andrew Wickham, and Wave 105 DJ, Rick Jackson, we celebrated all of our colleagues who have achieved long service with us in 2017, those who retired last year and all of our employees of the month.

We are pleased to announce that the morebus Employee of the Year is local Purbeck Breezer driver, Nigel Curtis. Nigel also went onto win the prestigious award of Go South Coast Employee of the Year which is fought against the rest of our sister operating companies.

Nigel was nominated as 'More Hero' - our employee of the month - back in August 2017 when he managed to control a tricky situation on board the Purbeck Breezer 50 route when the chain ferry went out of action. Nigel made sure that all of the customers were well looked after and communicated with before getting them safely back home.

He started working for us back in 2013 having previously worked for sister brand, Damory, some years before and joining on a personal recommendation from the Damory manager at the time. A regular and friendly face on our legendary Purbeck Breezer services, Nigel takes the many challenges of this tourist-led route in his stride and regularly provides us with invaluable feedback and suggestions on how we can improve our efficiency. We are regularly inundated with compliments from colleagues and customers alike for Nigel. Whenever you board his bus, you will always be greeted with a smile and a warm welcome.

Nigel also represented us at the Bournemouth Tourism Awards last year where we won the Transport Delivery Award for our renowned Purbeck Breezer services; to which we have also just been announced a finalist for 2018.

Increased levels of road traffic, dealing with a temperamental chain ferry and flapping tourists are all water off Nigel's back and we couldn't be prouder to name him our Employee of the Year. In recognition of his efforts, Nigel received £3,500 worth of vouchers, two weeks additional holiday, and a framed certificate.

Be sure to say 'hello' to Nigel if you see him out and about!

Have you had excellent customer service? Or know of a morebus employee who has gone the extra mile? You can nominate them for More Hero here.

Each month, an employee is chosen out of those nominated, the winner receives £50 worth of shopping vouchers, and an invite to the awards night A Night with the Stars.
