Chance to take the driving seat as Bournemouth youngsters learn about bus travel

Thursday, December 15 2016

The morebus team have been educating children from St Clements C of E Primary School in Bournemouth about bus travel and different modes of transport in their area.

The team visited the school with a double decker, taking Reception Year pupils on a special journey to Boscombe Pier, where they were able to take a good look around the vehicle. Making sure young people grow up knowing how public transport works will hopefully encourage them to opt for more sustainable methods of travel as they grow up.

Emily Murphy, assistant headteacher and EYFS lead at St Clements C of E School commented:

“The children in our three Reception classes loved their morebus experience. Our driver Gavin was very friendly and patient with all of them getting a ticket. The children couldn’t believe their luck when they were able to sit in the driver’s seat, open and close the doors and explore the switches. Morebus has been very accommodating, working around our timings. They have been very keen to support the children with this valuable learning experience.”

As a recognisable face in the community the morebus team strive to benefit it, not only with modern and frequent buses but also going the extra mile educating and raising awareness about local causes. Find out more about morebus working with the community here
